Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking official commented the attack made him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
